Centralia City Council Approves IDOT Payment for Lincoln Street OverlayThe Centralia City Council approved payment for an overdue bill from the Illinois Department of Transportation Tuesday evening.
Centralia City Manager Dan Ramey informed the Council in April that he received a bill from IDOT in the amount of $294,011.74 for overlays done on Lincoln Street in 2009. After several discussions with IDOT, IDOT reduced the outstanding bill from $294,011.74 to $84,573.14. The payment will satisfy the outstanding bill from IDOT from the city's share of the Lincoln Street project.
The previous City Council only made one payment in the amount of $19,011.74 in November 19, 2011, and no other payments since then. IDOT reported if they didn't receive their money, all sales tax money and motor fuel tax money coming from the state would be stopped from the state until all the money was repaid.
In other Council action, the Council approved a pay estimate #6 to Shores Builders for construction services for the reconstruction of Wabash Avenue and East 17th Street. The Council also presented a proclamation and certificates of appreciation to the 2012 Centralia Orphans Football team in honor of their outstanding 2012 season.
As a reminder, Wabash Avenue at Precision Drive will be reopening Wednesday morning. However from the north side of Swan Drive to the Industrial Tavern parking lot will be closed due to the Wabash Avenue project. Also, new sewer lines will be put in starting at 5th Street to 7th Street.
