Centralia City Council Approves Art and Wine Festival Set for October 12th

By Rob Sussman, WJBD News

The Centralia City Council unanimously approved during a city council meeting Monday night a measure to close off East Broadway Street from South Poplar to South Elm in order to accomodate the first-ever annual Centralia Art and Wine Festival. The Festival will take place on Saturday, October 12th and will feature a variety of vendors, art displays, and special events.

Centralia Mayor Tom Ashby said that he hopes that the event will highlight some of the more recent renovations to the downtown area and be a showcase of what Centralia has to offer.

The Festival is being planned by the City of Centralia, the Centralia Foundation, and the Centralia Cultural Society.

The City also approved a resolution waiving the bidding process for an upgrade to the city's computer server, which is out and date and low on memory.
