Centralia Announces 2014 Leaf Burning Weekends
It is legal to burn landscape waste only within the city limits. Landscape waste is defined as being dry leaves, tree trimmings, tree limbs, branches, and vines. Landscape waste does not include grass clippings, green trimmings, or wet branches or leaves.
All fires must be attended by a responsible adult. Open burning may be halted by city officials if it is deemed to be unsafe or too close to nearby structures. Residents are reminded to utilize leaf-collection services to their fullest extent before burning, as some residents are adversely affected by smoke inhalation.
Recreational fires are allowed for cooking and entertainment, but require a permit from the City Fire Department. The permit costs $5.00 and must be applied for in writing.
The other burn weekends in 2014 are as follows:
Nov 29-Nov 30
