Central City Woman Dies After Being Hit By TrainA 27-year-old Central City woman has died after being struck by a Canadian National freight train behind the former Miss Elaine's plant off North Poplar Street just north of the Centralia City Limits.
Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon identifies the victim as Eva Stanley of South Park Street. He reports Stanley was apparently walking to an assignment for her job with the State Department of Rehabilitation Services when she was hit by the southbound train.
Stanley was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, where she was pronounced dead. Cannon says Stanley received blunt force trauma to the upper body. He reports the investigation into the accident is continuing by the Marion County Sheriff's Department and Coroner's office. Central City and Centralia Police as well as the Centralia Fire Department and Lifestar Ambulance all responded to the scene.
Central City Police received a call about the accident at 11:30 Wednesday morning.
