Central City Man Sent to Prison for Five Years

By Bruce Kropp, WJBD News

A 40-year-old Central City man has been sentenced to five years in prison for felony domestic battery.

Dewayne Whipple of East Ellis admitted punching Lynette Lee in the face during an April 9th incident.  As part of the plea, a charge of aggravated battery for punching Ron Barnhart in the eye knowing he was a police officer was dropped along with an unrelated charge of deceptive practice.

Whipple will also have to complete four years of mandatory supervised release when getting out of prison and pay court costs.  The domestic battery charge was a felony because Whipple has a prior conviction of violation of an order of protection.
