Bryan Bennett Library Reaches Goal for Acoustic System ImprovementsThe Bryan Bennett Library in Salem is just about to raise the $6,055 needed to make acoustic and sound system improvements in their large meeting room. Librarian Kim Keller says a weekend fund raiser went extremely well.
"We raised our goal for the day and exceeded it. We raised about $3,289, which put us over the goal for the day. We're about $250-300 shy of what we need for the actual project, but I think the Friends organization will meet that. So come the summer reading time, we're going to have better acoustics in the gym, and we're really excited about that", said Keller.
Keller says in addition to adding baffles to absorb some of the sound, a wireless mike will be purchased for the sound system recently donated by the city. The money was raised through book sales and donations. The Modern Woodmen of America will provide a $2,500 match. Keller reported 31 people renewed or joined the Friends of the Library, bringing their membership up to 45 people.
