Bruce Rauner Submits Term Limits Petition(Springfield, IL) -- Bruce Rauner says it's time for some politicians to pack up their bags and leave office. He turned in nearly 600-thousand signatures on a petition trying to get a measure on the ballot that would limit lawmakers to just two terms.
"We have career politicians who are fundamentally corrupt and engage in cronyism, patronage, and failing the people of our state. We have to dramatically change that culture" said Rauner.
If the signatures all pan out, voters will have the final say on whether lawmakers should have term limits. If they approve the measure in November, it would limit state lawmakers to eight years in the legislature, raise the level to override a governor's veto from three-fifths to two-thirds, and change the number of House and Senate districts.
