Bones Found On Nature Trail Not Believed to Be HumanSalem Police Chief Ron Campo believes two bones found along the North Nature Trail are those of an animal and not a human. However, to be positive the bones are being sent to the State Crime Lab in Carbondale for analysis.
Salem Police were called after a man using the trail spotted the bones and took a photo with his phone. He then went to the Marion County Law Enforcement Center where Salem Police were called to investigate. Campo says it appears the bones had been dragged to the location they were found. He expects a confirmation on the bones quickly from the crime lab.
