Bond Set at $200,000 For Iuka Man Charged With Criminal Sexual Assault
Jason Vaughn of Landmark Road is accused of committing a sex act with a girl under the age of 18 in November of last year. However, Marion County State's Attorney Matt Wilzbach says the sexual acts apparently had been ongoing for the past five years. The 15 year old girl told sheriff's deputies last week that the sex acts had started when she was ten years old. She reportedly had disclosed the activity to a few friends a year ago as well as confidentially to a school counselor.
Police were not made aware of the situation until last week when the girl came to the sheriff's department with her grandmother to report the incident. Wilzbach says Vaughn had just moved back to Marion County a year ago from Clay County where additional charges may be filed.
If released on bond, Vaughn has been ordered to have no contact with the victim or any girl under the age of 18. The public defender was appointed to represent Vaughn.
