Belleville Martial Arts Instructor Charged With Sexually Abusing Several Children

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A martial arts instructor in southwestern Illinois has been charged with sexually abusing several students, including a 6-year-old.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that 20-year-old Christopher Horton was arrested Friday and charged with two federal counts of sexual exploitation of a child.  He also faces state charges including two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and seven counts of predatory criminal sexual assault accusing him of raping a 6-year-old boy.     Horton taught at Three Tigers Martial Arts in Belleville. Calls to the school were not returned.

U.S. Attorney Stephen Wigginton says Horton was ordered held without bond.      Trial dates have not been set. If convicted on the federal charges, Horton faces between 15 and 30 years in prison.

Online court records do not show whether Horton has an attorney.
