BCMW Community Services Awards 13 ScholarshipsBCMW Community Services has awarded a total of 13 scholarships to students attending Kaskaskia College and four year institutions.
The Russell Rose Memorial Scholarship, which is in memory of BCMW's former Executive Director, was presented to Marion County resident Johnnie Wilson who will be attending Kaskaskia College as a dental assisting major. The Doris Clark Memorial Scholarship in memory of the former Chair of BCMW's Board of Directors will be shared by Courtney Johnson who will be studying pre-med and Annette Wright who will be studying English.
The other ten scholarships are through the education component of the Community Services Block Grant Program funded through the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity in Springfield. The recipients from Bond County are Ineva Asaro, Brittany Duren and Maci Robertson who will be attending Kaskaskia College and Annette Wright who will be attending the University of Illinois at Springfield. Marion County recipients are Haley Aud, Keaton Braddy, NaJai Johnson and Brittney Meyer who will all be attending Kaskaskia College and Courtney Johnson who will attend SIU-Edwardsville. Ashley Finney of Washington County will receive a scholarship to attend Kaskaskia College.
The recipients were selected by a scholarship committee based on financial need, grade point average and commitment to career goals. The scholarships may be utilized for tuition and fees, textbooks and supplies, housing costs, childcare and transportation.
