Arrests Made In Two Major Crimes in Sesser
45-year-old Michael Romani of Sesser has been arrested for aggravated battery in connection with the beating death of 56-year-old John Franklin of Sesser at the Bank of Sesser Lounge. Illinois State Police indicated additional charges could still be filed against Romani.
Police were surprised last Friday to find explosive materials and devices including blasting caps as well as illegal knives and several semi-automatic weapons and ammunition at the home of 53-year-old Norman Risley in Sesser. They had gone to Risley's home to arrest him on charges of indecent solicitation of a child and sexual exploitation of a child. A 16-year-old girl who was cleaning Risley's apartment said he had solicited her for sexual acts. Bond for Risley was set at $750,000.
