26-Year-Old Inmate Found Dead in Illinois Prison CellSPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Officials say a 26-year-old prison inmate has died in his cell at Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro. Illinois Department of Corrections spokeswoman Stacey Solano says prison staff members found the man unresponsive in his cell a little after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
She says prison employees began life-saving measures and called emergency responders who continued the efforts. However, the inmate was pronounced dead about 7:33 p.m. Solano says prison authorities do not suspect foul play but an investigation is under way. She provided no more details.
Graham is a medium-security prison opened in 1980 that currently houses about 1,800 inmates. Hillsboro is 65 miles northeast of St. Louis.
