17-Year-Old Charged in Killing of 13-Year-Old Granite City BoyGRANITE CITY, Ill. (AP) - A Granite City teenager has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy.
Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons charged the 17-year-old on Friday. The teenager also is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm. He is accused of shooting and killing Clayton Veninga of Granite City on Wednesday night. Connor has said the boy was sitting on a friend's porch when he was shot. He died later at a hospital.
Police didn't provide further details, including a motive. Granite City is in the Metro-East.
