Performers strike a pose during a rehearsal
"Kids Alive: A Magical World of Music" to Open Friday at Salem Community TheaterKids Alive: A Magical World of Music opens at Salem Community Theatre Friday, August 2, for a two weekend run. The show will star area 22 youth ages seven through 25 singing songs such as 'Start Something New' and What Time Is It'.
Director Sally Beckman has had this idea for a musical revue for several years, thinking a show similar to one of Salem Theatre's fundraisers, "Broadway on Broadway," could be presented by area kids and would be a great program for families. On the Salem Theatre Board of Directors for ten years, Beckman has directed three musicals and co-directed a play. The musical is sponsored by Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. and Richard Sinclair.
Youth in the show include Stephanie Allen, Ben Barcroft, Jaclyn Bowerman, Nick Bowerman, Lexi Crawford, Alaira Davis, Kira Endebrock, Cody Engel, Carlee Jones, Hailey Jones, Noah Jourdan, Christian Jourdan, Anthony Martin, Kayla Miller, Dalyn Opolony, Madi Quinn, Brianna Rooney, Lauren Schaubert, Taylor Schisler, Ciara Sexton, Alex Upchurch and Rob Weaver.
The show will be held at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, August 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th with matinee shows on Sundays, August 4 and 11 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and are available now at Salem City Hall and Salem Travel or at the door.
