"It Takes A Team to Keep the Dream Alive" Theme of Sunday's Dr. King BanquetThe theme of this year's Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Banquet is "It Takes a Team to Keep the Dream Alive". The banquet is scheduled for five Sunday night at the Second Baptist Church in Centralia.
The guest speaker this year is Dr. Michelle (Anderson) Maultsby. Maultsby was born in Centralia and is a Centralia High School graduate. She went on earn a Ph.D. in Counseling from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Maultsby has worked for more than 14 years as an addictions and mental health professional and administrator and is currently an associate professor in rehabilitation counseling at South Carolina State University. She is also an ordained minister.
After Maultsby's speech, a potluck style banquet will be served in the fellowship hall. Each family attending is requested to bring a covered dish such as salad or vegetables. Meat, beverages and desserts will be provided.
Everyone is invited to attend the event free of charge.
