Young Adults Who Live with Parents Aren't Thriving

Wavebreak Media/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Times are still tough for a lot of people, particularly for adults between the ages of 24 and 34.

A Gallup Daily tracking poll found that 14 percent of this demographic currently lives at home with their parents. What's more, these adults are at a handicap because they're not thriving as well as others in their age group who are making it on their own.

Gallup considers people thriving if on a scale from zero to 10, they rate their current lives a seven or higher, and an eight or higher when they project their lives five years from now.

Although there are some benefits to living with parents, adults ages 24 to 34 have a lower perception of where they are in life compared to others who live by themselves or have started families.

Typically, adults living at home are also less inclined to be married, employed or have a college education.
