Report: Rick Ross the Victim of Drive-By Shooting
(NEW YORK) -- Rick Ross received the kind of birthday surprise no one wants on Monday when he was the target of an apparent drive-by shooting.
Witnesses tell ABC News affiliate WPLG that Ross, who turned 37 on Monday, was inside a Rolls Royce when it was sprayed with bullets and subsequently crashed into a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., apartment building early Monday morning.
Witnesses say Ross was in the luxury vehicle with a woman and was visibly shaken after the incident. The rapper had just left a birthday celebration at the Floridian Restaurant, according to locals.
No one was injured in the shooting.
Police confirm that gunshots were heard in the vicinity of 1410 E. Las Olas Boulevard around 5 a.m. and are searching for a suspect or suspects.
They're not releasing the make or model of the vehicle that approached Ross' car, nor have they officially confirmed that it was Ross inside the target vehicle.
Last year, Ross had to cancel concerts in Charlotte and Greensboro, N.C., due to threats from a street gang, the Gangster Disciples, who are believed to have a beef with Ross. The rapper’s camp never confirmed that threat.
