Report: Clint Eastwood in Talks to Direct "American Sniper"
(LOS ANGELES) -- Clint Eastwood is in talks to direct American Sniper, the story of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Steven Spielberg was attached to direct the film, but he exited earlier this month over a budgetary disagreement. Bradley Cooper is on board as a producer and will play the lead role.
The project is an adaptation of Kyle’s book American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History. Kyle and a friend were killed at a shooting range in February by a former Marine suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
