NBC Reveals Summer Schedule

gielmichal/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- NBC has stocked up on new shows for its summer schedule. It will premiere six scripted series and one reality competition during the summer, beginning in May.

The most notable show of the bunch is Crossbones, a pirate-themed drama starring John Malkovich as Blackbeard. An assassin named Tom Lowe attempts to take down the famous privateer. Crossbones premieres May 30.

The other new programs are:

  • The Night Shift, a medical drama about an overnight crew at a San Antonio hospital, premiering May 27.
  • Undateable, a comedy focusing on a group of friends and their romantic lives, debuting May 29.
  • Taxi Brooklyn, an action-comedy series revolving around a partnership between a New York taxi driver and NYPD detective, launching June 25.
  • The Amy Poehler-produced comedy Welcome to Sweden, about an American -- played by Poehler's brother, Greg Poehler -- who agrees to move with his partner to her native Sweden after she accepts a new job, bowing July 10.
  • Working the Engels, focusing on a family who faces debt after the patriarch passes away, also premiering July 10. 
  • Food Fighters, a cooking show pitting amateur cooks against five professional chefs, launching July 22.
  • Last Comic Standing returns from hiatus on May 22, while America's Got Talent kicks off a new season on May 27.
