Melissa Gilbert Marries Timothy Busfield

@MelissaEGilbert/Twitter(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) --Wearing a red strapless gown, Melissa Gilbert exchanged wedding vows with “Thirtysomething” star Timothy Busfield in California on Wednesday.

The “Dancing With the Stars” alum confirmed the news on Twitter today, posting a picture of herself and Busfield in a field surrounded by flowers and telling fans, “Thanks for all the well wishes.”

Gilbert’s rep told People magazine that the couple tied the knot “in a private ceremony at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara on April 24.”

San Ysidro Ranch has been the site of many famous weddings. Gilbert pointed out on Twitter that “Lawrence Olivier and Vivian Leigh were married &John and Jackie Kennedy honeymooned there!!”

Shunning traditional wedding white, the “Little House on the Prairie” star went for the bold scarlet-tiered strapless gown instead. Busfield chose a dark suit.

“The color spoke volumes,” she told People magazine. “Passion, fire, love: Red says all of those things to me.”

Still, the “Little House on the Prairie” star, 48, admitted that dress shopping was not an easy process.

“It was quite a search,” she said. “[But] the moment I saw it, I knew.”

And now, it’s something that she and Busfield, 55, will treasure forever.

“The dress will always hold our precious, precious memories,” she said.

Gilbert’s choice of color may have been because this is not her first time at the altar. A mother of two, Gilbert, 48, was previously married to Bo Brinkman and Bruce Boxleitner.

Busfield, 55, was also married twice before, and has three children.

The pair has reportedly known each other for two decades, before becoming engaged over the Christmas holidays.
