Jennifer Hudson Plays Tattooed Addict in "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete"
(NEW YORK) -- Jennifer Hudson has never pounded a shot of tequila, or sat down for a session at anybody's tattoo shop. That won't stop her, though, from playing a heavily inked drug addict in the upcoming movie The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete. Another music star, Alicia Keys, is executive producer of the film.
In the movie, J-Hud will play the mother of a boy who is coming into his teenage years in New York City. Her character is the "furthest thing" from the real Jennifer, who tells HitFix.com, "I've never had a drink before, I've never been drunk, unsober, in my entire life… I would never get a tattoo!"
Portraying someone other than herself means that The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete won't feature any singing from Jennifer, and "that's my favorite part about it," she jokes. "It's refreshing to be able to do a role that does not involve singing at all, and it's solely about the character," she explains to HitFix.com.
While she won't be singing on screen, Jennifer didn't rule out the possibility that she would collaborate with Alicia.
The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete is slated to premiere later this year. Jordin Sparks also stars in the film, along with actors Jeffrey Wright and Anthony Mackie.
