Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin Flew to Bahamas Ahead of Split News
(LOS ANGELES) -- When the news broke Tuesday of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's separation after 10 years of marriage, the couple was in the Bahamas relaxing together with their kids Apple and Moses at a private home on Eleuthra Island, E! Online reports.
Local sources say the couple rented an upscale home that typically costs between $5,000-$6,000 per week.
"They are enjoying their getaway together. They are out on the beach with the kids having fun. They are having a family vacation," one source added.
Insiders say Paltrow, 41, and Martin, 37, were spotted having dinner together Tuesday, hours after the actress confirmed the separation on her lifestyle website.
A local resident tells E! Online, "The island is a place where you go not to be seen. People come to the island to really get away. It is a very private island and there is nothing commercial here. It's a lot of land without a lot of people living here."
The news of the couple's separation surprised fans, but a source with ties to their kids' private elementary school in Los Angeles tells Entertainment Tonight Paltrow and Martin informed them about the split a week ago.
The source believes the school was informed ahead of time as a courtesy in order to prepare them for the added media attention that would follow the announcement once it was made public.
