CBS Announces Five New Shows for Fall Season

Hemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- CBS' unofficial motto for the 2013-2014 season: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The top-rated broadcast network has scheduled only five new series for the fall -- a smaller total than what the other networks have planned for their respective lineups.

Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar lead the most buzzed-about new CBS program, the comedy The Crazy Ones.  They'll play a father-daughter duo who works at an advertising agency.

The other new series coming to CBS this fall are:

  • Mom, a comedy starring Anna Faris as a newly-sober single mom.

  • We Are Men, a comedy about four single guys who live in the same apartment complex and have "many missteps in love."

  • The Millers, a comedy featuring Will Arnett as a recently-divorced news reporter whose parents also split up.

  • Hostages, a Jerry Bruckheimer drama that follows a surgeon, played by Toni Collette, whose family is taken hostage by a rogue FBI agent.  The agent demands that the surgeon assassinate the president while operating on the commander-in-chief.

CBS has also announced three series for midseason: the Josh Holloway-Marg Helgenberger super-agent thriller Intelligence, the legal drama Reckless, and the romantic comedy Friends With Better Lives.

The network has shuffled a few of its existing shows, moving Person of Interest to Tuesdays and Hawaii Five-O to Fridays, while leaving the Melissa McCarthy sitcom Mike & Molly off its schedule entirely for the time being.
