Bryan Cranston and Wife Honored at Hope Awards

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(WASHINGTON) -- Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston and his wife were among the honorees Tuesday night at the Hope Awards in Washington, D.C.  The event is presented annually by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in recognition of individuals and organizations that contribute to the fight to protect children from victimization.

Cranston and his wife, actress Robin Dearden, were honored for their support of the National Center.  His involvement began more than a decade ago, after he met America's Most Wanted host John Walsh, whose son was abducted and murdered in 1981.

Cranston says after he and his wife participated in a National Center event at Walsh's invitation, he began to think about their then-6-year-old daughter.

He recalled that he began his partnership with the National Center because it "just felt right, that we were blessed with a very healthy, happy little girl, and she was safe, and not every parent gets to say that."

The event was held one day after Cleveland police announced that three women who'd disappeared a decade ago were rescued from a home.

Cranston called it a "remarkable" coincidence, adding, "That's exactly what we're celebrating: hope.  And the message to all the parents out there who are still missing children is that there is hope.  Don't lose that hope."

Among the other honorees was kidnapping survivor Jaycee Dugard.
