Alec Baldwin Apologizes After Calling Reporter a ‘Toxic Little Queen’

Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Alec Baldwin issued an apology in a statement to GLAAD after calling a reporter a “toxic little queen” and “little bitch” in a Twitter rant after his wife was accused of tweeting while the couple attended James Gandolfini’s funeral in New York City Thursday.

In a statement posted on GLAAD’s website Friday, Baldwin apologized about his comments, which were directed at Daily Mail reporter George Stark.

“My ill-advised attack on George Stark of the Daily Mail had absolutely nothing to do with issues of anyone’s sexual orientation. My anger was directed at Mr. Stark for blatantly lying and disseminating libelous information about my wife and her conduct at our friend’s funeral service.  As someone who fights against homophobia, I apologize,” he said.

Stark had accused Hilaria Baldwin of tweeting “upbeat posts” about her upcoming wedding anniversary and her Thursday morning appearance on the “Rachael Ray” show during the funeral.

Known for his outbursts, Baldwin took to Twitter Thursday with some colorful language to deny that his wife had tweeted during the funeral.

“My wife and I attend a funeral to pay our respects to an old friend, and some toxic Brit writes this (expletive) trash,” Baldwin, 55, tweeted.

In another tweet, Baldwin threatened Stark.

“I’m gonna find you, George Stark …  and I’m gonna (expletive) …you…up.”

The 30 Rock star rattled off three more tweets about Stark before his account was disabled.

A spokesman for the Baldwins said in a statement to ABC News earlier today, “It is disgraceful that this reporter manufactured a story and never called for comment or explanation — especially when it needlessly diverted attention away from a day to honor the memory of a beloved figure like Mr. Gandolfini.”

Hilaria Baldwin defended herself on Twitter to her more than 14,000 followers.

“FYI I don’t believe in bringing phones into a funeral and I never did and I never would,” she tweeted.

“Here is some info… When someone tweets something at a certain time, and you retweet it later, it posts the TIME the first person tweeted,” she added.

Baldwin’s confrontations and blowups have become instant headlines over the years. Baldwin allegedly punched a New York Daily News photographer in the face last June after the actor obtained a license to wed Hilaria.

Baldwin was escorted off an American Airlines flight in December 2011 after he refused to stop playing “Words with Friends” on his phone
