"Monsters University," "World War Z" Open Friday
(NEW YORK) -- Here's a look at the new movies opening nationwide Friday:
-- Monsters University: Disney-Pixar's prequel to its 2001 animated hit Monsters, Inc. tells the story of how Billy Crystal's Mike and John Goodman's Sulley met in college. Steve Buscemi and Helen Mirren also lend their voices to the film, which is screening in 3D. Rated G.
-- World War Z: Brad Pitt is a U.N. employee with the goal of stemming a zombie pandemic that's taken over the world. The film, based on the 2006 book by Max Brooks, is screening in 3D. Rated PG-13.
And expanding into wide release:
-- The Bling Ring: Sofia Coppola's film is based on the so-called "Bling Ring" who stole more than $3 million worth of goods from the Los Angeles-area homes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and other celebrities in 2008 and 2009. Emma Watson stars. Rated R.
