"American Idol"-Themed Website "Vote for the Worst" Shutting Down
(LOS ANGELES) -- The new American Idol season will be the last one in which the website VotefortheWorst.com will urge viewers to, well, vote for the worst.
The creator of the website says it will shut down following American Idol’s 12th season, which begins Wednesday. Dave Della Terza says the Fox show has outlived its usefulness and has become a “shell of its former self.” He goes on, "VFTW has accomplished our one true goal: making sure that America stops taking American Idol and other singing reality shows seriously.”
Nevertheless, Della Terza is looking forward to one aspect of the new season. He says, "Some wonderful person has paid off Nicki Minaj to help take down the show in the most dramatic and flamboyant way possible, so let's take advantage."
VotefortheWorst.com launched in 2004 and gained its greatest notoriety three years later when it actively supported sub-par contestant Sanjaya Malakar.
