Salem City Council May Set Aquatic Fees
11/2/09 @ 1:27:08 pm

Salem City Council members may make a final decision on the fee schedule for the Salem Aquatic Center at their regular meeting tonight.

Last month's meeting saw discussion on fee increases because the new facility will include multiple new features and will require a larger staff to run. More staff and features will require additional funding. Mayor Ferguson voiced his opinion against the fee increases at the last meeting and Councilman Black suggested free admission for the first week to generate interest in the new facility.

The council is also expected to rescind an award of a bid for a used dump truck and approve the purchase of another. The original truck was lacking a power take-off feature, making it unsuitable for the job. Two police officers are also expected to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Susan Miller and Kyle Ambuehl will be honored at the meeting tonight. Lastly, the council will also discuss the acquisition of property in closed session, with possible action to follow.

The Salem City Council meets 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
