Most people at the 83rd annual Centralia Halloween Parade were there to enjoy watching the festivities, but the parade entries were in it to win. That's exactly what several of them did. Overall, Centralia Cub Scout and Troop 260 won the Harley Queen Trophy with their float depicting the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

New Destiny Church of God was chosen by Grand Marshall Margaret Loomis to win her trophy for their entry "He Has the Whole World in His Hands". Montell Fields accepted the trophy on behalf of the church. She said building the float turned out to be educational. Every year we try and represent the church and I always pray to God to give me ideas. When I heard this year's theme Cultures Around the World, I studied different cultures and tried to represent things in different cultures," Fields explained.
In the churches division, Orchardville took first and the First General Baptist Church's float was second. The International Brotherhood of Coon Hunters took the first place ranking in the civic category with Sounds of Harmony float featuring Barbership Chorus music following right behind. In the commercial category, Wamac Casey's General Store took first place to Canadian National Railroad's second place. The True Family took first and the Toedte family placed second in the family division. The Centralia High School Ag Club won first place in the schools division and Kaskaskia College's float came in second. KC's Dance Team would come back to win first place for marching units and Studio 50 took second in that division.
Many marching bands took home trophies Saturday also. Among the junior high schools, Breese Elementary won first place, Franklin Park second, and Selmaville third. Sandoval High School took second place to Wayne City in the junior/senior high school division. The students from Breese Central won first place over Carlyle in the high school division.
